About
Spencer lives a life devoted to fishing. He has guided in the Taos, NM area since 2002. Spencer’s home waters include the Cimarron River, Rio Grande, Costilla Creek, and Ute Creek just to name a few. While he specializes in smaller creeks, Spencer is no stranger to larger rivers and lakes. Spencer possesses the patience and knowledge to accommodate any level of angler. A bit of a local history buff, Spencer loves to teach his customers about the forming of the Taos area and southern Rockies. As an avid fly tyer, he is always in fine tune with the current hatches and always tries to get an added “edge” to his fly creations.
Spencer first came to New Mexico with his family as a young child. He learned early on about how New Mexico is, in fact, the Land Of Enchantment. Eager to get back to New Mexico, Spencer began working for Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM before he finished his senior year in high school. He continued working for the Boy Scouts every summer all through the 1990′s. The next 5 years were spent chasing fish throughout Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska, and New Mexico.
Spencer has tied flies commercially, for fishing, and for art.
