Upper Culebra Creek

We have access to a mile of private water on the Culebra Creek outside of San Luis, CO. This stretch is known for its cascading mini waterfalls, countless rainbows and browns, and its breathtaking views of Culebra Peak (Colorado’s southernmost 14’er). The creek runs through a farm/ranch that has some cattle, horses, and a couple of large pigs. Fishing this stretch is a unique experience, to say the least. The Culebra Creek is wide open which makes it very easy to cast to the fish. The river structure is just perfect for a beginner to learn the basic skills of drift and line control.

The Baden Powell set is complete and ready to frame. Included are the 5 patterns that he had listed in Forest and Stream magazine in the early 1900’s. Baden-Powell claimed that these 5 patterns were the only flies that a salmon angler would need. The flies included are the Black List, the Red Marine, the Blue Jacket, the Quarantine and the Blue Marine. This has been an enjoyable set to tie and I look forward to seeing them together in one frame.
